Acupuncture and Movement Coaching

Ethan Ross L.Ac

My own interest in healing began through mindful movement practices such as Qigong and Yoga. I found that both helped to ease tension, improve body awareness and create a greater sense of balance. However, some persistent health concerns remained, which led me to explore other therapeutic approaches. It was through experiencing acupuncture myself that I noticed a meaningful shift in my wellbeing - and this ultimately inspired me to train as an acupuncturist.

I went on to study at the School of Scientific Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture, where I trained in a traditional approach that places careful physical examination at the heart of treatment.

Rather than relying solely on symptoms, I assess the body’s channels through gentle palpation, particularly along the arms and legs and, where appropriate, the back and abdomen. This hands-on approach helps me identify areas of tension, sensitivity or imbalance and develop a treatment that is tailored to the individual.

Over time, I have refined my sense of touch so that treatments can be focused and precise. My aim is to use only the minimum number of needles, creating an experience that feels considered, gentle and personalised.

Whether you are seeking support with persistent pain, tension, stress or simply looking to improve your overall sense of wellbeing, acupuncture can offer a calm and thoughtful way of working with the body and supporting its natural capacity for regulation and recovery.

What to Expect

The first visit will be approximately 60 minutes. Return visits are typically 45 minutes, but can sometimes last up to one hour, depending on the treatment required.

Acute conditions that have manifested recently can take around 1-3 treatments to resolve.

Depending on severity, chronic, longer-term ailments can take up to 6 or more treatments.

It’s recommended to wear comfortable, loose clothes for the appointment.

How does Acupuncture work ?

Acupuncture works by correcting the flow of bioelectricity, or qi, in the body. The stress and strain of modern life can cause abnormalities in qi flow, causing symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and a host of other stress-related diseases. Imbalances can be addressed by restoring the smooth flow of qi, bringing the body to its natural state of self-healing.
